~Lab 21W, An Afro-Experimental Design Experience~
Lab 21w was birthed from a desire to explore the question, 'What else does Africa have to offer in fashion beyond our beautiful patterns and prints?' Africa is the origin of creativity and uniqueness, the motherland. All that it carries and represents should reflect in what we wear but oftentimes we limit its potential to the popular interpretations we see time and again. Therefore, Lab21W exists as an incubator space within the 21Woman brand, for more experimental designs that attempt to reimagine how our heritage is expressed. We are embarking on a journey of discovery and innovation to expand society's understanding of African stories through fashion, and we invite you to join us in telling these stories.

The SHE Collection
This first project tells the story of the woman who inspired it, the 21st century black woman. She is limitless and vast in her experiences. She is modern but also rooted in culture, poised but hardworking, strong with a soft core, independent whilst connected, self-aware and a student of life. She has her ups, downs and in-betweens. A daughter, a mother, a sister, a friend, a human in all her glory. Her story is set against the background of the diverse landscapes in Kenya. Blessed to be many countries in one, Kenya is home to arable highlands, savannah grasslands, white sandy beaches, dry wilderness and concrete jungle. All these elements come together in this collection to give visuals of where she is in her journey. This is a story of hope, growth and resilience that develops from life's experiences.
